About Nina Werman
Meditation found me in January of 2013. At the time I was running the beauty business I founded in New York City, I was poised to launch several more locations, and 'never not working' was my mantra. I fully subscribed to a 'wired but tired' way of being as a prerequisite for entrepreneurial city life, but for some time I’d been seeking a sense of serenity to balance out what felt like unshakable feelings of stress, anxiety, and bouts of low grade depression.
In my search I've utilized numerous therapeutic modalities including talk therapy, 12-step recovery, personal development retreats, as well as working extensively with psychedelic plant medicine. These approaches have been significant for my development, but after living in NYC, running a business, and facing a deepening sense of physical and emotional unrest, I felt eager to find a lasting sense of calm.

When we don’t listen to nature’s clear yet quiet messages, nature screams. Eventually my stress level reached a crescendo and evolved into several related health issues. I finally heard the call to commit to meditation, and after just a couple of weeks of non-negotiable twice-daily Vedic practice, the shift in me was palpable.

I felt a refreshing and generalized sense of ease, and I noticed that instead of pounding the pavement while checking my phone for incoming messages, my pace was measured. I felt a heightened, pleasant awareness of what was happening around me, in the present moment. I listened more and spoke less, and I experienced a new and invaluable moment of pause before responding or reacting to people, places, and things. Committing to a twice-daily Vedic meditation practice triggered a gentle yet seismic shift within me, which only continues to grow.
There are no stressful situations; there are demanding situations and stressful reactions. Life is still full of demand, but my experience of and reactions to life are now tempered by a deep inner contentedness that has only been revealed by my Vedic practice - one that has revolutionized virtually every facet of my daily life.
Further development of my practice led me to attend several advanced meditation retreats, followed by in-depth Vedic studies with my teacher, Thom Knoles. These experiences and my personal evolution compelled me to share the infinite wellspring of understanding and peace derived from this practice, and my pursuits culminated in a three-month immersive certification program in the foothills of the Himalayas where I became certified as a Vedic Meditation Initiator and teacher of Vedic knowledge.
